Alina 04:52
Alina I am still wondering if you're scared of me hiding behind your castle wall Alina I am wondering if that pain you seek is hidden somewhere and lost Please don't stand there with your finger in my face I'm coming whether you like it or not Please don't stand there poking fun at me your beauty only hides what you're not The storm is over now and you've been cast away how does it feel to be lost The storm is over but the pain you seek Alina I still wonder the cost All those faces looking down at you I wonder will you last this time Alina I still wonder if you'll make it at all what business is it of mine

Not Long Ago 03:59
Wasn't that long ago you were sitting by my side wasn't that long ago I had nothing to hide wasn't that long ago I was happy and feeling free wasn't that long ago you were such a good friend to me Then I think... If I could just have a drink on the brink I don't want to think Time changed and rearranged I chose a different road to hoe Mama cried but the tears in her eyes were like dessert salt in Mexico things got strange I found a horse with no name and oh how we rode all that was was a couple of times not that long ago Then I think... If I could just have a drink on the brink I don't want to think Contemplate and wonder who I am and where I am today was a tree, fast cars or whiskey that made me change my way friends and family feel that way with wonder in their eyes but I just keep on trucking along over bridges and rivers of lies Then I think... If I could just have a drink on the brink I don't want to think

It's easy to think you've got it made when no one's on the attack It's easy to think you've got it whipped when that monkey's off your back but I have seen a fire growing burning deep green and blue starts when you feel like believing It'll burn a whole right through It's easy to think you're alone when no one's in the room at all It's easy to think that you're stoned when you've been taking Tuinal but I have seen a ghost he's walking not as scary as you think starts when you feel like believing and he'll stop when you ain't Put a candle in your window maybe I'll stop through To tell you the story of ghosts and fire I'll stop when you think that its not true cause I have seen a fire growing burning deep green and blue and I have seen a ghost he's walking and he'll walk right on through

What we gon' do when we climb that mountain what we gon' do when we climb that hill climb over see what's coming for us climb over see that the land is still I saw you touch the sky once I saw you flick the moon you look to me for answer to questions I look to you to question me still What I want is the sky to stop falling what I want is the earth to rebuild as we stand near the furnace around us sweat drips off but I sweat still What we gon' do when we climb that mountain what we gon' do when we climb that hill climb over see what's coming for us climb over see that the land is still People say live for laughter people say pray or be killed I knew once that I was immortal I knew once and I pay for it still

Road 05:02
Run waters as we get down water as we pray Run farmers till the ground before it's washed away Searching are we all then it comes real clear Always blurred that granite brownish hue Well I've seen it before Still I sit here in wonder Followed like a star We're on the road Here we are again it all seems so far away Got carried away last night the dreams they flood back in Wasted were we all then it comes real clear We all have that chance to start where we start again Well I've seen it before Still I sit here in wonder Followed like a star We're on the road Lost are we all till we're found once again Time takes us all spits us out again I wondered once where we all go again Then it came back around like a wheel or a circle spins Well I've seen it before Still I sit here in wonder Followed like a star We're on the road

I don't know how it went down I bet that you do While everyone was looking at you The man in the background came through Oh and it sure feels good To get away with things untrue Letting the background through letting the background through When you leave don't come back Your presence we could not endure Sitting silently you'll see The man in the background who is he Oh and it sure feels good To leave it all behind again Letting the background man come in Letting the background man come in You ain't sure if you're gonna fight Background man may take your life See you next life is what I say If I passed you on the train My voice you won't hear come to you You let the background through you let the background...

about

This album contains songs that were written years ago. The inspiration for the album came after the death of Wes Phillips, who remains a musical inspiration. In remembrance of Wes I spent a lot of time listening to his music and I was so glad that he had recorded tracks to leave behind. When I heard some of Chris Robinette's music while cooking fried chicken at Proper(a restaurant in Boone), I asked if he would be interested in recording some of my songs. Thus began a ten month process of meeting on Tuesday evenings to record what you have here. I hope you enjoy the music.

Loose Roosters Boone, North Carolina

Loose Roosters

Finer gentlemen, you’ll meet few
Writing songs that are all brand new
Live in the mountains with a kangaroo
And boy who cries about the age of two
Many have tried to play as they do
But the soul of a rooster is required of you

Tell all you know to come from far and near
The roosters are loose so lend them your ear
